Your Leduc week — World Cup and what's on

Welcome back to lalocal — The Positive Pulse of Leduc.

It's a big week for soccer fans across the country as the FIFA World Cup officially gets underway. Canada takes the field for its first match this week, and there's plenty happening around Leduc as we head into another busy summer weekend.

🌍 The World Cup Begins

The FIFA World Cup 2026 officially opens on June 11 in Mexico City, marking the start of one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

For Canadians, the excitement really begins on June 12 when Canada plays its home opener in Toronto against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Canada will also face Qatar on June 17 and Switzerland on June 22 as part of Group B.

Whether you're a lifelong soccer fan or simply enjoy cheering on Team Canada, this promises to be a memorable few weeks for the country. Matches can be watched on TSN and CTV, with schedules and tournament information available at fifa.com.

🏁 Rock'N the Racetracks Returns

If motorsports are more your speed, RAD Torque Raceway has you covered this weekend.

Rock'N the Racetracks takes place Saturday, June 13 beginning at 8:00 AM and promises a full day of racing action, community atmosphere, and excitement for fans of all ages.

Events like these continue to make the Leduc region a destination for visitors and racing enthusiasts throughout the summer.

☕ Leo's Community Note

One of my favourite parts of building lalocal is getting out into the community and experiencing events alongside everyone else.

This past Saturday I attended Gogo's Tea Trivia and had an absolute blast. I learned a few things about tea, met some great people, and there were some surprisingly good prizes. Preet is building something special at Gogo's Tea & Health, and it's wonderful to see people gathering together around positive community experiences.

I also attended The Unachievable on Friday evening. The speakers were exceptional, the conversations were inspiring, and the room was filled with local business owners who genuinely care about making a difference in our community. The energy in the room was something special.

The next Unachievable event takes place July 3 at Flight Deck Sports Bar in Leduc. Doors open at 5:45 PM. If you've never attended before, I'd encourage you to come see it for yourself.
